A Special Nativity in L'Arche Edmonton

L'Arche Edmonton has been putting on the same nativity story for 25 years but, largely because of the unique cast, no two shows are ever the same. When the lights dimmed at St. Thomas D'Aquin and traditional Christmas music filled the south-side Catholic Church, the developmentally delayed actors only loosely followed the script. Some waved at friends and family throughout the play, one shepherd calmly chewed on a face cloth during his scene, one of the three kings arrived on wheels, and Mary went on an unscripted walk offstage midway through the pageant and had to be coaxed back.
